Duncan was kind enough to invite me to host the next question for his Patients For A Moment blog carnival.
This question was inspired by the previous PFAM, PFAM 19.
My question is about adapting - the ol' "bend but don't break." If you have a chronic illness, you may not be able to pursue the goals you'd have if you were healthy. My question therefore is, "how have you learned to adapt around your illness in order to accomplish things that are important to you - even though your illness may prevent you from achieving the goals you had before you got sick?"
In asking this question, I don't want people to feel as though they are not doing enough. Those of us who live with illness know that health is the most important thing in life - not money or status, which people spend so much time on! However, I believe it's good for one's mental health to find ways to actualize oneself, even in the face of illness. It doesn't matter how ambitious or modest the goal is, just working on something you care about is what's important.
